CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP’S CHURCH KITCHEN

The Three Mile Cross Church Centre is run by the South of Reading Christian Fellowship. Until recently, staff had been relying on a basic, domestic style kitchen for their catering. However, it became apparent that this wasn’t sufficient to cope with ever increasing demands on the church kitchen’s capabilities. Therefore, the decision was taken to upgrade to a commercial catering kitchen.

Hilary Wilson, a member of the management team who had previous experience in catering, found Nelson Catering Equipment on the internet and was impressed that the company had worked on similar projects in the past.

“The Nelson team was very helpful,” explains Hilary. “They listened carefully to what we wanted and translated our ideas into a very clean, workable design that not only embraces all our requirements but satisfies all the necessary legislation. The service was great – and fast too – and Nelson managed to stick to our budget.”

Nelson provided training on completion to ensure that everybody was completely familiar with the new catering equipment.

“We all love the new church kitchen,” enthuses Hilary. “Since it’s been in, we have started to cater for much larger numbers. In fact, we’ve already had two, one hundred cover events with more planned and we’ve also been running cooking lessons with children from our associated Christian school.”

Staff are undoubtedly enthusiastic about the kitchen and four members have already been on Health and Safety courses.

“Although it’s all great, I think my favourite element of the kitchen has to be the ingenious mobile trolley which doubles as an extra worktop. It’s brilliant and means that we can always temporarily extend our kitchen when and where needed without taking up valuable floor space.”

The church kitchen includes:

  • A Gram Upright Fridge
  • A Gram undercounter freezer
  • A bespoke hot cupboard
  • A bespoke ambient cupboard with 3 chefs drawers
  • A Lincat hot water boiler
  • A Falcon 6 burner range
  • 4 work tables – one with castors and brakes
  • A Nelson commercial dishwasher
  • A bespoke cupboard with sink and drainer
  • A separate wash hand basin
  • 3 Lincat wall mounted cupboards
